Jumping into Spring...with rainboots!

Alas, we have finally reached the first day of Spring, now if only the warm weather would be so kind to join us. There I go again, talking about the weather. But how can't I, when it's one of the biggest daily factors in why we dress the way we dress. And here in Chicago, it's getting very difficult to get dressed lately. The weather here seriously hasn't gone above 40 degrees and stores continue to torture us with their cute Spring outfits that involve light dresses and shorts. Ugh! Only the strong dare to venture in those kind of outfits. I myself have resorted into dressing mostly in basic neutrals with a touch of a Spring element, as noted in the outfit below.

Por fin la primavera está aquí, ahora solo falta que de verdad llegue el buen tiempo. Y de nuevo, hablando del tiempo, pero no es éste uno de los principales factores que influyen en cómo nos vestimos a diario? Y en Chicago, ahora mismo, es imposible saber cómo vestirse. La temperatura no ha subido de los 5 grados y las tiendas nos torturan con sus modelitos de primavera plagados de vestidos y shorts. Ugh! Yo he decidido mantenerme con colores neutros con un toque primaveral, como pueden ver en la foto.

And just a side note...if there's anything one should keep their eye out for now it's a pair of rain boots. There are cuts and styles to satisfy anyone's taste. Trust me, you'll need 'em when the rain arrives and if you live in an area like Chicago, they'll come in handy for those random April snow showers that might suddenly appear.

Si hay algo a lo que todavía hay que echarle un ojo es a las botas de agua. Hay para todos los gustos. Las lluvias primaverales son mundiales y en Chicago hasta puede que te sirvan para una nevada repentina...en Abril.

Christmas is quickly approaching and I still have a mile long list of things to do. To make matters more interesting, we will be getting hit by a rain/snow storm  tomorrow. Oh well, here's to looking tres chic while running errands in a blizzard.

Winter Beauty Must Haves for Adri

The tan has officially faded and it's time for my face to face (pun intended) the brutality of cold weather. Dryness, paleness, redness, itchiness...does these sound familiar or am I alone on this one? I was never a believer of changing your beauty products according to the season, but the older I get the more I realize it's a necessity. Now I don't consider myself a beauty expert, but trial and error has led me to the products below and currently stand as favorites in my beauty routine, as well some oldies that I continue to go back to again and again.

A estas alturas, cualquier resquicio de moreno ha desaparecido totalmente y mi cara se enfrenta de nuevo a temperaturas gélidas. Sequedad, palidez, picores, rojeces...le suena esto a alguien o soy yo la única? Nunca me había creído eso de tener que cambiar de prodcutos con el cambio de estación, pero cuanto mayor me hago, más le encuentro la lógica y la necesidad! No soy para nada una experta en productos de belleza pero entre prueba y error he llegado a determinar algunas de mis novedades favoritas y otros, que a pesar del tiempo, no puedo dejar de usar.

1. Patricia Wexler M.D. Skin Brightening Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 - During the summer I'm willing to try a new moisturizer, but every winter I always use the same one. Not only does this moisturizer make my skin baby soft, but it also makes it brighter; which is a bonus when you haven't seen the sun in five days because it's so gloomy. Plus it only retails for $40, which in the world of moisturizers, is a steal. 

Durante el verano estoy mas abierta a probar distintas hidratantes pero en invierno, siempre es la misma. No sólo me deja la piel de la cara como la de un bebé, sino que además me aporta luz, lo que definitivamente es un bonus despues de 5 días sin ver el sol. Su precio de $40 en el mundo de las cremas, es un chollo.

2. Benefit Dr. Feelgood Balm -  This balm has become my little secret for weekends. It mattes your complexion while reducing the appearance of fine lines and pores, therefore making it perfect for days when you don't want to wear a lot of makeup but still want to look presentable. 

Este bálsamo se ha convertido en mi secreto de fin de semana. Elimina brillos, reduce la apariencia de los poros y arrugas. Es perfecto para eso días en los que sin mucha chapa y pintura queremos estar presentables.

3. Benefit They're Real! Mascara - This is my mascara of choice! It lengthens and separates the lashes plus it never smudges. This a year round favorite for me.

Mi rimmel preferido! Alarga y separa y además nunca se derrite. Es mi favorito los 365 días del año.

4. Stila Convertible Color Blush (Petunia Color) - I once heard from a little birdie (aka Diana) that powder blush is not good for the skin. Since then I've been keeping my eye out for cream based blushes, which apparently are a lot harder to find. Anyway after some extensive internet search, I've finally found a new winter favorite. The color gives of the perfect pink cheeks as if you were standing in the cold a second too long. Plus it can also work as a lip stain. Sweet!

Una vez me dijo un pajarito (Diana) que el colorete en polvo no era bueno para la piel y sobretodo en invierno (la seca más). Desde entonces no les he quitado ojo a los coloretes en crema pero son mucho mas difíciles de encontrar. Después de una intensiva y extensiva búsqueda, por fin encontre este. Te deja el perfecto color rosado, como si huebieras pasado en el frío un poco más de lo necesario pero mona. Y puede usarse en los labios. Perfecto!

5. MAC Lipstick (Dark Side) - And finally, my beauty post wouldn't be complete without the mention of my current favorite lip color. Dark Side by MAC does just that, and brings out my darker sultrier side of me.

Y por último, mi post de belleza no podía acabar sin antes mencionar mi barra de labios preferida en este momento. El Lado Oscuro de MAC, como su nombre indica, saca mi lado...sinuoso.

The temperature outside is quickly dropping and my need for a warmer coat is growing quicker by the day. I'm hoping some winter inspiration will help me visualize exactly what i'm looking for and find one that meets my needs. Have I mentioned before that I can be quite indecisive? Oh well!

Las temperaturas bajan a una velocidad vertiginosa y mi necesidad de un buen abrigo sigue el mismo ritmo. So it's getting cold outside....

1. Suéter de cuello vuelto negro: intenta encontrar uno que finito. Es una pieza mágica para poner debajo de vestidos cuando empieza el frío. Con unos vaqueros o una falda tendrás dos conjuntos simples pero sofisticados al instante.

2. Medias negras opacas: para esos días en los que aunque haga frío tienes que ponerte una falda, éste es el complemento perfecto. Cuanto más alto sea el número más tupidas serán. Mis marcas preferidas son H&M y Hue.

3. Botines de ante negros: quién se acuerda de mi post de bailarinas nude? Eran el truco veraniego para alargar las piernas! Pues, los botines negros con medias negras son el truco del invierno. Tendrás metros y metros... 

4. Cardigan de lana: esta pieza no necesita consejos de utilización. Te la pones encima de lo que sea por lo que vale la pena pagar un poco más por lana de la buena y de la calentita, como el cashmere. Nada de poliéster y de acrílicos. Créeme, te acordarás de mí cuando estés sentada en tu oficina con ella puesta.

5. Abrigo con personalidad: Si el frío y el viento te tienen envuelta en gorros, guantes y bufandas, elige un abrigo que te haga destacar del resto. Lánzate al color!

Treasure Series: Adri's Edition

These trusty red boots have been part of my closet for longer than I can remember . They're so old the label has worn off and the tips are all scuffed up. Yet, I refuse to get rid of them. Just wearing them puts a smile to my face and add's an unexpected 'pop' to my outfit. With a smile on my face and an extra dose of confidence for the day, there's a pep in my step cause nothing gets between my trusty red boots. Estas botas rojas han sido parte de mi armario más tiempo casi del que recuerdo. Eran tan viejas cuando las compré en una tienda vintage que ya no se veía ni la marca y las puntas estaban todas comidas. Con todo y con eso, me niego a deshacerme de ellas. No sé por qué, el sólo hecho de ponérmelas me pone de buen humor y me da una dosis extra de confianza para el resto del día. Voy pisando fuerte con mis queridísimas botas rojas. Typically Unpredictable

 

Here in Chicago, people are welcoming the fashion celebrations of autumn with cozy knit sweaters, dresses with boots, and blazers as coats.  But we also like to keep it realistic. Just yesterday we were all enjoying a cozy 70° fall day and then the temperature dropped and reminded us that old man winter is just around the corner. My husband might say I’m exaggerating a bit. 

 

En Chicago. la gente está dando la bienvenida al otoño con jerseys de punto gordo, vestidos con botas y blazers en vez de abrigos. Pero también tenemos que ser realistas. Ayer teníamos una temperatura estupenda de 19 grados, típica de un día de otoño. Pero de repente dió un bajón para recordarnos que el invierno está a la vuelta de la esquina. Mi marido me dirá que exagero un poco pero bueno.

Typically, when the weather drops so unexpectedly low in October, all I can think is keeping warm. Admittedly, I’m a black coat type of girl, a problem I’m trying to fix this season. But that doesn’t mean I don’t like my fashion sense to shine through; this is where a bright scarf comes in place. Just like a lipstick (read about my obsession here) a bright scarf has the capacity to not only add some panache to your outfit; it can also dramatically brighten your face while still keeping you warm. Look for a print or color that complements your skin. I do believe it’s a must have piece for every woman out there…at least those who live in unpredictable weather!

Cada vez que la temperatura baja de manera inesperada en Octubre en lo único que pienso es en como no pasar frío. Honestamente, soy de las de abrigo negro y punto, pero eso es algo que estamos intentando cambiar aquí en Panache esta temporada. Que siempre tire por un abrigo negro, no significa que no permita que mi amor por la moda se refleje de vez en cuando; y es aquí cuando entra en juego la bufanda. Al igual que un pintalabios, una bufanda colorida además de añadi panache a todods tus looks, iluminará tu cara de repente y te mantendrá calentita. Busca un color o un estampado que vaya con tu tono de piel. Esta pieza es un must para todas las mujeres ahí fuera... por lo menos para aquellas que viven en una ciudad con tiempo impredecible!

Colonel Mustard

Read the magazines and ask the editors - the color of the season is burgundy wine oxblood. It’s a great color and surely you're seeing a lot of why to buy it and way's to wear it. But we've got to be ready for an alternative when it has overstayed its welcome. So I've turned to the color mustard as my new Autumn color.

This hue typically re-surfaces every fall; one can almost call it a classic. Personally I have a love/hate relationship with it. Love because I’m just completely enamored with it; hate because I can never find the right shade that goes with my skin tone. But this year I’m determined to conquer it. So after trying on many shades of the condiment color, I think I finally figured out the trick. Tip: The most saturated hues are best left to tan skin or naturally dark with warm undertones, a more yellow mustard looks good on medium skin (that’s me), and a more orange mustard goes best with cool skin tones. Worst comes to worst, if you can’t figure out what hue looks best against you skin, go for a mustard bottom or accessories like a clutch. This season I’ve added a dress, hat, and the blazer to my closet. I should be covered.

Lo pone en todas las revistas - el color de la temporada es el vino o para traducirlo exactamente, su nuevo nombre es "sangre de buey".  Oye, que nos encanta el color y más ahora que leemos por todas partes por qué comprarlo y cómo combinarlo. Pero les he preparado una alternativa para cuando estemos mareadas de tanto vino. Así que he puesto toda mi atención en el mostaza como mi nuevo color de otoño.

No es que sea una novedad, aparece todo los otoños de alguna manera; es casi un clásico. Yo tengo una relación amor/odio con él. Por un lado estoy totalmente enamorada del color; por otro, lo odio porque no hay manera de encontrar justo el tono que quiero y que vaya con mi color de piel. Pero este año me he propuesto conseguirlo. Después de probarme todas las tonalidades del color de los condimentos, creo que le cogí el truco. Los tonos más puros y vibrantes le van a bien a las pieles oscuras y morenas. Los tonos más amarillos, le van bien a las pieles medias (esa soy yo!) y los más anaranjados le van mejor a las pieles más claras. Y si no eres capaz de averiguar qué color exactamente va con tu piel, simplemente apuesta por incorporarlo en tus partes de abajo o accesorios y así funciona siempre. Yo este año me he decantado por un vestido, un sombrero y una chaqueta. Creo que estoy cubierta.

Desde que mi gran amiga Diana nos habló de su nueva aventura lo tuvimos claro: Manda ya unas cuantas para Chicago!.

Y así una partida de pulseras Amaawa con la Virgen del Rocío, emprendieron rumbo hacia el otro lado del charco. Siempre ha habido una gran devoción en España a la La Virgen del Rocío, sobretodo en el Sur. La diseñadora de las pulseras Amaawa ha llevado siempre puesta una medalla de la Virgen tallada por su padre que era joyero. Un dia decidió hacer mil réplicas y compartir su devoción y su fe con aquéllos que quisieran comprarla.
