Mil mujeres en una/ 1 Woman, a 1000 Looks

Siempre me había considerado una compradora inteligente. Fiel a mi estilo: colores neutros, vaqueros, clásicos renovables, vamos.

have always considered myself a smart shopper. True to my style: neutrals, jeans, all of them renewable classics. Sometimes with a touch of rock here or a touch of boho there, depending on the time of the year; but always playing  with the same basics. Very little trendy pieces, since I would probably not wear them more than once.

I recently found, among my magazines cut outs, an interview with Marc Jacobs that once made me rethink my theory: smart shopper yes, boring shopper also.

To quote Marc: "Why should you have a look to stick to? Fashion should be bold colors and bright prints one day and soft pastels and lace the next day. Really indulge your mood and whims. You don't leave a rock concert feeling the way you do after you've heard a symphony, so why always feel and look the same way? Be open! If you dress to suit your mood- as you should- you don't need to have a signature look."

Moral: There are already enough things in life that we can't play with, so lets enjoy those that get the imagination flowing and allow us to take on a thousand different looks depending on the moment of the day. Let's be one woman with a thousand looks.

Jumping into Spring...with rainboots!

Alas, we have finally reached the first day of Spring, now if only the warm weather would be so kind to join us. There I go again, talking about the weather. But how can't I, when it's one of the biggest daily factors in why we dress the way we dress. And here in Chicago, it's getting very difficult to get dressed lately. The weather here seriously hasn't gone above 40 degrees and stores continue to torture us with their cute Spring outfits that involve light dresses and shorts. Ugh! Only the strong dare to venture in those kind of outfits. I myself have resorted into dressing mostly in basic neutrals with a touch of a Spring element, as noted in the outfit below.

And just a side note...if there's anything one should keep their eye out for now it's a pair of rain boots. There are cuts and styles to satisfy anyone's taste. Trust me, you'll need 'em when the rain arrives and if you live in an area like Chicago, they'll come in handy for those random April snow showers that might suddenly appear.

Burberry, "THE" Party

And finally the day arrived, the long awaited fashion event of the year. Burberry celebrates its rentrée in the Chicago market with an unbelievable campaign, an ultra modern building and a soirée that was  impossible to forget. The campaign: young entrepreneurs and artists of every type, from chefs to musicians, were photographed throughout the city in all variations of the famous trench.

Five floors of Burberry indulgence, from luxury cosmetics to exclusives pieces of Burberry Prorsum, now stand proudly on Chicago´s Magnificent Mile in a stunning tower of Modernism and Art Deco.  Pictured above, confetti rain came falling on these men in black... trenches.

And here, my two fortunate friends were lucky enough to experience the new store sipping champagne, eating hors d'oeuvres, and listening to the London imported band and DJ amongst la crème de la crème of Chicago socials.

Although its like looking for Waldo, Christopher Bailey himself was also enjoying the party. We have to love the man who transformed the brand into what it is today and made Burberry the first fashion brand to embrace the digital world.

Who knew I would already be walking the red carpet in my first year in the fashion world? Actually the carpet was beige but who's judging? :)  It was the brand of my first real coat at 17 when I left the heat of my tropical island for the cold and snow of Salamanca. And here I am now, eyes wide and head set on, but keeping glamour unaltered in this amazing fabric and leather Burberry trench. HA!

P.S. No envy necessary, the coat was only on loan.  :-(

J Crew & Vogue, Chicago

I ran out of the office, came home, changed my shoes, added a huge necklace, fixed my red wine color lipstick and ran out again to J.Crew´s event. This is a store that I am actually just starting to discover and although it´s a little preppy (no offense), they are doing an amazing job revamping their classic pieces.
I still can't believe Chicago gifted me with a summer day when the winter had already started! I got to wear my beloved violet velvet Gucci sandals and my burgundy or ox blood (this is the trendy way of describing the color now) Zara pants that I can´t get enough of.
My boss, Melissa Skoog, was one of the hostesses´ of the event organized by J.Crew and Vogue with Tom Mora, Head of Women’s design to celebrate the fall/holiday 2012 collection. He approached me while trying on the coat and told me he absolutely loved it!!Me too...
Brittany and I liked a lot of things, as usual, but we just couldn´t stop staring at the beautiful jewelry collection they have in-store right now. Everything in the shadow case was just gorgeous! Since lately all I can think of are huge necklaces…I wanted to buy them all!
(Katelyn,  this post is dedicated to you! You know why)

Anna Dello Russo at H&M

(Brittany and Me)
(I'm in love with the bag!)

I was tired and it was raining but I couldn´t miss it! Anna Dello Russo, former Editor-in-Chief of  Vogue Japan, launched her jewelry collection for H&M. So, even though I had no hope of finding anything left, I decided to check it out after work. And I was wrong, yayy!
There were still a lot of things to choose from. At the beginning I wanted everything but all the bracelets were huge on me so I turned my attention towards the necklaces. As you can tell from my pictures, I ´m not a jewelry girl and less so if they are shinny and blingy but it is one of the things that I've decided to add to my wardrobe: jeans, t-shirt and a huge necklace...it´s a trend and I´m loving it.

(I'm wearing: Alexander Wang muscle tee, jeans from the spanish brand Bershka fall 2012, old motorcycle boots from french brand Comptoir des Cotonniers and Chanel Cocoon bag from this past Christmas)

Atelier AZZA

(Diana + Sam)
(Leslie + Diana)

I don't think I´ve mentioned what I do in Chicago... I work for a brand strategy and communications agency for fashion brands. I absolutely looooove my job. Two Mondays ago, the team and I attended the first anniversary of Atelier AZZA.  Based in Chicago, this Indian designer is totally blowing up with her personal style and her designs. Everything is hand sewn and very, very ethnic.  With just one of her pieces, your will give your outfit a 360 degrees turn.

Since it was Monday, I wasn´t exactly as inspired as I could possibly be. On top of that, I didn´t want to lug my entire wardrobe with me to work, so I went for the sure thing: black Zara pants that I bought 2 years ago. For the event I changed my platforms for my beloved studded Valentino ( I just can´t stop staring at them, they are sooo pretty) and added a bright coral top, also from Zara, for a touch of color. At the end of the day, is not like I was going to bust out the sequins on a Monday...
