Creo que todavía no he contado lo que hago en Chicago...trabajo en una agencia de comunicación y marketing estratégico para empresas de moda y me encaaaaanta mi trabajo. El pasado lunes asistí con parte del equipo al primer aniversario de Atelier AZZA. Una diseñadora india residente en Chicago que está causando estragos con su estilazo y sus modelos. Todo cosido a mano y muy, muy étnico. Con una sola pieza suya puedes dar un giro de 360 grados a un outfit pero entiendo, que no es para todo el mundo. 

Yo, como era lunes, tampoco es que estuviera de lo más inspirada con mi modelito y como tenía que llevar todo desde por la mañana aposté a lo seguro con un pantalón tobillero negro de Zara que tengo desde hace unos años. Para el evento cambié mis plataformas por los Valentino de tachuelas (no puedo parar de mirarlos de lo bonitos que me parecen; aunque está mal que lo diga yo, ya que los tengo) y añadí el top rojo coral con peplum de Zara para darle un toque de color. Al fin y al cabo era lunes, tampoco íbamos a sacar las lentejuelas...

I don't think I´ve mentioned what I do in Chicago... I work for a brand strategy and communications agency for fashion brands. I absolutely looooove my job. Two Mondays ago, the team and I attended the first anniversary of Atelier AZZA.  Based in Chicago, this Indian designer is totally blowing up with her personal style and her designs. Everything is hand sewn and very, very ethnic.  With just one of her pieces, your will give your outfit a 360 degrees turn.

Since it was Monday, I wasn´t exactly as inspired as I could possibly be. On top of that, I didn´t want to lug my entire wardrobe with me to work, so I went for the sure thing: black Zara pants that I bought 2 years ago. For the event I changed my platforms for my beloved studded Valentino ( I just can´t stop staring at them, they are sooo pretty) and added a bright coral top, also from Zara, for a touch of color. At the end of the day, is not like I was going to bust out the sequins on a Monday... 

Leggings… ¡a sus órdenes! /as you command!

Negros “efecto” cuero, de leopardo, grises, azules, granates, negros, rasgados, con rodilleras, combinado con transparencias o con piel…en fin, para cualquier momento; porque eso es lo que tienen los leggings, que según sean y los combines valen hasta para ir a trabajar. Y el negro de H&M (€9,90) es el que escogí el otro día (el de leopardo también es de H&M y del mismo precio, pero para la oficina no es muy aconsejable…), combinándolo con camiseta blanca de lunares negros de Mango (de hace 3 años), chaqueta negra tres cuartos estilo marinero de H&M del año pasado (€5 en rebajas!!) y unas bailarinas negras de charol. Comodidad, estilo y “crisis” de la mano….

They can be made of pleather, have a leopoard print, they can be grey, blue or burgundy, with cutouts, with knee pads, mesh...that´s the thing about leggings, they can be worn for almost any occasion. Depending on which ones you choose you can even wear them to work. This Monday I chose to wear my black H&M leggings (€ 9,90). My leopard ones are also H&M, but I honestly don´t recommend them for the office. I decided to combine them with a black and white polka dot shirt that I bought in Mango three years ago and a black 3/4 sleeve jacket that I picked up last year on sale in H&M for €5!!. For the shoes, I decided to go with black patent leather ballerinas. Comfort, style and fighting the economic crisis, all at the same time.

Aprovechando los últimos rayos

Creo que se debe notar que me resisto a que se acabe el verano. Mientras todo el mundo habla de lo que está pasando en todas las Fashion Weeks internacionales nosotras nos centramos en el momento presente. Tan presente que no puedo ni empezar a hablar de otoño, pero entiendo las ganas de empezar a cambiar algo. Y ése algo son los accesorios. Atrás quedaron los días de collares étnicos con toques de color.

Llevaba tiempo buscando cadenas con medallas. No sólo porque me enamoré de la primera colección de joyas de Dolce & Gabbana que las tenía por todas partes, sino porque siento que me protegen y porque además aportan personalidad al estilo. Cuando estuve en Las Palmas, compré éstas traídas de Italia. Me las pongo siempre juntas y cada día me gustan más. Además, para que no me faltara de nada, añadí a mi colección una pulsera de La Milagrosa (que también está en una de las cadenas)…yo por…no dar dos viajes…;-)

I think it´s probably obvious that I reject the fact that summer is coming to an end. While everyone else is busy talking about what is happening in the International Fashion Weeks, we like to focus on the present. I'm so in the present, I can't even begin to talk about fall, but I do understand the desire for change. And that change for me comes in the form of accessories. Gone are the days of chunky, colorful and ethnic summer jewelry.

It's been a while since I've been looking for chains with medals. Not only because I fell in love with the first Dolce & Gabbana jewelry collection, but also because I feel they add personality to my style while protecting me. When I was in Las Palmas, I bought the necklaces seen above, which were brought over from Italy. I always wear them together and each day that goes by, I love them even more. I also ended up buying the bracelet with La Milagrosa (which is also the virgin in one of the chains) to my collection... you know... just so I don't have to make another trip. ;-)

Guest Post: FNO in Madrid by Ana

Hola chicas, este post es especial, tanto como el participar en Panache. Tras petición de mi gran amiga Diana, me fui directa a Serrano y Ortega y Gasset (Madrid), como la reportera más dicharachera, con el fin de mostraros cómo se vive aquí la Fashion’s Night Out (Vogue 2012). Sólo deciros que las calles de la Milla de Oro de Madrid, estaban llenas de gente, niñas con estilos estudiados al milímetro y mucha mucha cara guapa, con ganas de pasárselo bien y aprovechar la noche de compras por la calle Serrano.

Quedé con mis amigas, Luchi y Nathy en la Joyería que Luchi tiene en Serrano 44 "Carlos Jiménez Joyeros". Fue una noche de risas acompañada de champan y pinchos. Luchi en honor a la sortija Quattre de Boucheron, además ofrecía Macarons, las pastitas francesas más chic. Os dejo algunas fotos para que veáis los modelos. Yo llevaba, pantalones y cinturón de Zara, camiseta de Mango, zapatos de Guess y bolso de Devota &Lomba.

Hi girls, this post is very special for me. Not only because I'm participating in Panache but also because someone very special for me asked me to write it. As soon as my very dear friend Diana told me about Fashion's Night Out events, there I was, as the most talkative reporter to tell you all about it. Madrid's Golden Mile was full with beautiful people and girls with looks planned to the extreme, all of them wanting to have fun and enjoy a night out shopping on Serrano street.

I met my friends Luchi and Nathy at the High-End Jewelry store that Luchi owns in Serrano 44 "Carlos Jimenez Joyeros". It was a night of laughs with friends, spanish hors d'oeuvres and champagne. Luchi, honoring Boucheron's ring Quattre, also offered Macaroons, the chicest parisian pastries. I leave you all a couple of pics so that you can peep our looks. My pants and belt were from Zara, my top from Mango, Guess shoes and Devota & Lomba bag (spanish designers).

Empiezan nuevos tiempos

Septiembre es para mí el diciembre de mitad de año. Es el mes de los buenos propósitos y de las grandes esperanzas. El año nos da una segunda oportunidad para aquello que nos propusimos empezar el uno de enero y no hemos cumplido. Después de una etapa de reflexión y relajación que supone el verano, es un mes en el que ponemos todas nuestras energías en cambiar. Me encuentro en un momento, en el que me propongo utilizar todas estas energías para impulsarme y tener fe en que tengo fuerzas para hacerlo. Porque la tenemos. Solo tenemos que creer en nosotras mismas.

La nueva estación, las nuevas tendencias nos sirven de herramienta para comenzar este cambio y hacerlo más fácil. Y aunque parezca mentira e incluso frívolo, a veces empezar desde fuera con detalles aparentemente superficiales: renovar tu armario, tus accesorios, elegir un color nuevo, cuidarte, ir al gimnasio, ordenar tu casa... poco a poco se reflejará en tu interior y en tu nueva actitud para afrontar lo que queda de 2012. A por ello!

September for me is like the mid-year December. It´s a month of new goals and big hopes. The year gives us another chance to bring about all those plans that we proposed on January 1st and haven´t yet accomplished.

After the summer, a period of relaxation and reflection, September is the month in which we focus all of our energy on changing.

I find myself in a place, where I want to use all this energy to push myself and have faith in my strength to do so. Because we do have that strength. We just have to have confidence in ourselves.

The new season, the new trends, can serve as tools to make these changes happen and make it easier. It sounds unbelievable and maybe even superficial, but sometimes starting from the outside: renewing your wardrobe, going to the gym 4 days a week, including a new color in your repertoire, keeping your house organized… little by little these changes will be reflected in your inside and in your new attitude to face what´s left of 2012. Go for it!

While Diana was away...

Qué cortitas se me hicieron, pero por lo menos fueron bien aprovechadas. Unos dias en Ibiza con mi amiga Alyssa (pareado), luego directa a mi queridísima playa de San Agustín en Las Palmas y por último a mi añorado Madrid...6 aviones en 14 días; pero dicen que sarna con gusto no pica y a mi no me picará nunca si supone pasar tiempo con las personas que más quiero en este mundo, mi familia y amigos. Niñas, cuánto las echo de menos!
