Trends we want to try...but have yet to

Estamos empeñadas... queremos un clutch para verano pero no nos decidimos:

Pensamiento nº1: total, ya tengo un montón de bolsos, lo usaré?
Pensamiento nº2: son algo incómodos...siempre teniendo que agarrarlos y además como soy un desastre soy capaz de olvidármelo en cualquier sitio.
Pensamiento nº3: Vale, no quiero uno caro y si lo compro lo quiero con color!
Pensamiento nº4: la verdad, qué monos quedan con vaqueros y camiseta blanca y hasta con shorts! Día y noche, convierten cualquier look sencillo en glamuroso y... por qué será?

We are determined....we want a clutch for summer but we can't decide if we really need it. Here's the process our mind is going through:

Thought #1:  I already own tons of purses, do I really need one more?

Thought #2: Clutches are soooo inconvenient. Always having to hold on and keep track of them. Ugh! Knowing me, I would probably lose it.

Thought #3: Well,  a bright colored one might add some pizzaz to my outfit...maybe I just don't buy an expensive one.

Thought #4: In all honesty, I could pair them with a white t-shirt and a pair of jeans or shorts, a black dress, a white dress, the lace skirt with...I could also it during the day, night, when I'm running errands, when I ....Ok ok the question now is why shouldn't I get one?

What is the shopping list? Simply put it's the list we create for new pieces we want to add to our closet. The list helps us have a focus when we go out to shop and sometimes stops us from overspending.

Qué es la lista de la compra? Es la lista que creamos para numerar las nuevas piezas que queremos añadir a nuestro armario. Nos ayuda a centrarnos en lo que realmente queremos o nos hace falta y nos frena cada vez que estamos a punto de gastar más de la cuenta.

Fringe Boots for Everyone!

Parece mentira que haya tardado tanto tiempo en dedicar un post a uno de mis artículos de colección preferidos: los zapatos!! ¿Qué sorpresa no? ¡A todas nos encantan! Prometo que después de éste vendrán muchos más… igual un día hasta les enseño mi pequeña colección a ver qué les parece.

Pero ahora mismo, el grito de guerra es: NO SIN MIS FLECOS! Este verano hay que hacer un sacrificio por los botines de flecos y pasar un poco de calor…. Dan un aire entre boho, sofisticado y sexy que me encanta. Si además los unes a unos shorts o vestido ya ni te cuento (momento Ibiza). Se mueven contigo, siguen tu ritmo, te adaptas a ellos, se adaptan a ti…vamos, sal ya a buscar unos que te gusten porque además los vas a terminar de amortizar en invierno! Mira que en Panache, estamos pendientes de todo...

It seems incredible that it took so long to dedicate a post to one of my favorite articles of clothing: shoes! Surprised? We all love them! I promise that after this there will be many more to come, and maybe one day I’ll do a post on my personal small collection to see what you think.

But for now, the battle cry is: NOT WITHOUT MY FRINGE! They give a vibe of boho, sophistication and sexiness that I love. Pair them with a dress or pair of shorts (living an Ibiza moment right here). They move with you, follow your rhythm, you adapt to them, they adapt to you. So what are you waiting for? Go find a pair that fits your style because you're going to want to wear them through fall and winter! See in Panache, we like to stay ahead of the trend.

Let's go back, not forward

Let's go back in time. January. It’s a snowy, blistery day while shopping in a parka and boots when love strikes. Love in the form of a printed spring dress or those oh-so-tall wedges that just had to be taken home. Now jump back to the present, halfway through Spring, and reflect on those purchases. The high of their newness starts to wear off and the dreaded idea of “I have nothing to wear!” starts to creep itself into the brain. A morning of combing through those purchases can sometimes be a bit disappointing:Peplum tops? Been there done that. Floral pants? More like what was I thinking when I got these? Neon bags? Do I really want to look like a walking highlighter?

So instead of looking for the next new thing, I take a moment to reflect. Instead of looking forward, I look backwards to how we got here in the first place. One of my favorite pastimes is to search for photos of style icons online. You know those photos of ladies whose style transcends time? They look so effortless yet so put together. And everything they’re wearing I’d wear in a heartbeat today. I’m constantly asking myself “what’s their secret?” Sometimes their fashion is so simple and basic - and that’s the answer - sometimes you gotta keep it simple.   

In the moments when I’m not in the mood for the latest trends, I refer to my inner simplesta (made up word by me, Def: your classic style inspiration). Mine tend to be French Women from the 1960’s. I break down what they are wearing to its core. One simple formula I often refer back to is: a black and white a-line dress with flats...add a trench coat for cool days. Wha-la!

Retrocedamos en el tiempo. Enero. Preparadas para un día de compras con nuestro abrigo y botas altas, surge el flechazo. El amor en forma de vestido de primavera y de unas maravillosas plataformas que tenemos que llevarnos sí o sí. Volvamos al presente, ya a mitad de la primavera y reflexionemos sobre esas compras. Ya no nos parecen tan excitantes como en aquel momento y seguimos con la frase de siempre: “¡no tengo nada que ponerme!”. Ahora más que gustarnos nos decepcionan: tops con volantes? Ya me los puse. Pantalones con flores? Qué me habría bebido cuando los compré? Bolsos de colores chillones? Es que acaso quiero parecer un fluorescente?

Así que antes de pensar en mi siguiente compra, me paro a reflexionar. Uno de mis pasatiempos preferidos es buscar fotos de iconos de estilo del pasado. Esas mujeres, cuyo estilo “no forzado” permanece en el tiempo. Y siempre me pregunto: “¿cual es su secreto?. Tampoco lucen nada complicado. Precisamente ése es el secreto, su simpleza.

En esos momentos en los que no me apetece llevar la última tendencia en el mercado, vuelvo a lo que siempre me ha inspirado independientemente de lo que se lleve. Y siempre me han gustado las mujeres de la Francia de los 60 y uno de los looks que imperó en aquella época: el vestidito evasé en blanco y negro con bailarinas…añádele un trench si sopla el viento et…Voilà!

Los andamios la eclipsan pero aun así el escaparate destaca y por eso paré: tenía unas camisetas con flecos y dibujos muy divertidas. Y claro, entré. Se llama Dressroom y tan dress! Llena de vestidos diferentes y apetecibles. Es la típica tienda que vuelves y dices…pero cómo no me fijé en esto la otra vez??? Y la última vez me dio por las rayas, que siempre me han gustado. Me encanta mezclarlas con otros estampados (aunque en estas fotos no me diera tiempo) como por ejemplo flores, que están por todos lados este año. Pasaros por allí, Cecilia, dueña y diseñadora, os hará sentir como en casa.

I was minding my own business walking through my neighborhood the other day, when a store's window display stopped me in my tracks. In it I saw T-shirts full of fringe and amusing prints on them; so of course, I went in. The Dressroom is the name of the place, and once inside you'll find way more than just one dress! This store is full of cute outfits of different styles, colors, and shapes. The Dressroom has something for nearly all tastes. It is the type of boutique you always return to and say, "Why didn't I notice this the last time I was walked by here"??? On my last visit, I even rediscovered my passion for stripes. I love to mix stripes with other prints such as flowers, which are all over the place this year. So ladies, I'm telling you this is a must stop shop. Not only do they have an abundance of fashion goodies, but Cecilia, the owner and designer of some of the pieces, will make you feel right at home.

- Cambia el look desgastado por shorts más femeninos, a la cintura y en colores pastel.

- Búscalos con detalles dorados: ya sean tachuelas, cremalleras o botones.

- Dále un descanso a tus pies: tacones y plataformas de menos altura pero siempre sexys!

- La punta ha vuelto.

- Guarda las más sesenteras tan de moda el año pasado para otro momento.

- Ahora: faldas lápiz y estampadas: geométricos, florales, surferos, tropicales!

Under the Sea

Ya lo dije al colgar las fotos de la pasarela de Versace: QUIERO SER SIRENA! Desde entonces solo pienso en verdes pastel con toques lilas, melocotón o blancos y me imagino nadando en aguas verdes cristalinas…

Y mira que me costó…Parecía que nunca iba a poder incorporar los colores pastel a mi armario pero solo era cuestión de encontrar las piezas acordes con mi estilo. La mayoría de lo que veía en estos colores eran siluetas aniñadas y delicadas que nada tenían que ver conmigo. Donatella Versace con su toque sexy y ultra-femenino me sirvió de inspiración y me trasladó a ese mundo mitológico bajo el agua. Esto es lo que tiene el maravilloso mundo de la moda que aunque a veces te resistas…al final siempre te convence.

I already said it when we posted my favorite pictures of the the Versace Spring 2012 RTW: I WANT TO BE A MERMAID! And I meant it. I have pastels on the brain. It will sometimes be combined with lilac, peachy and white hues.

And it took time ... I thought I would never be able to incorporate pastels into my wardrobe but it was only a matter of finding the right pieces that worked with my personal style. Most of what I saw in these colors were childlike silhouettes that had nothing to do with me. Donatella Versace, with her sexy and ultra-feminine look, inspired and transported me into the mythological world underwater. This is what the wonderful world of fashion does to you, even if you try to resist ... in the end you always fall for it.

Y me convenció…a comprar un vestido (solo llevo vestidos en verano) y en este maravilloso color verde! Lo estrené el viernes pasado para un evento benéfico del Rush Associates Board. Mi toque personal se lo di añadiendo una chaqueta de cuero negra. Cualquier otra noche, le añadiré además mi cinturón de tachuelas plateadas (alguien recuerda el que llevaba Sarah Jessica Parker en la película Sex and the City 1? Pues ése mismo es!)

P.D: Aunque parezca mentira, esa cadena que pone Sirena en inglés… también me la compré (Puedes comprarla en I'm your present!J 

I was convinced to buy this dress (I tend to only wear dresses in the summer) in this marvelous mint green! Last Friday, I was able to premiere it for the Rush Associates Board Casino Night. I gave it my own personal touch by adding a black leather jacket.  For another night, I plan to pair it with my silver studded belt (anyone remember the one Sarah Jessica Parker wore in the movie Sex and the City 1? Well, that one!)

P.S. No surprise here, you see the acrylic Mermaid necklace…I bought it. You can buy one for yourself at  I'm your present!

Este otro conjunto ya está en mi poder. Estos shorts delicados de cintura alta son también de Topshop. La camiseta amarilla clara es de Zara y también la combinaré con mis pitillo. De nuevo, los accesorios con tachuelas son mi perdición y convierten a una sirena a secas en La Sirena Rockera (éste es de BCBG Max Azria). Como ven, la obsesión es real y aquí dejo prueba fehaciente. 

The outfit above is already in my possession. The silky high-waisted shorts are from Topshop. The light yellow shirt, from Zara, would also go great with a pair of mint colored skinny jeans (You can refer to this post to get a better idea). Again, studded accessories are my downfall and turn a simple mermaid to Rock n' Roll Mermaid. (The belt is from BCBG Max Azria). As you can see, the obsession is real and this post is all the proof you need.
